1 part woodworker & 1 part river lover. My love of creating pieces by hand, and a passion for using natural materials has developed into this work with driftwood. Raised along the Mohawk River, a love and reverence of the natural world was instilled early, and continues to drive my work.

Using a variety of hand tools and methods, each piece of driftwood used is gathered and worked on gently by hand, removing as much as three quarters of the original material until the heart of the wood is revealed. The wood itself guides the final contours and shape. A small piece of antique wire from old field lines is used to form a simple hanger or stitch pieces together. All of these elements also express a desire to leave as light a footprint as possible in the creation of this work.

Work has been shown in spaces including the AnnMarie Sculpture Garden & Arts Center, M.D., The Arkell Museum, N.Y., and the Coopertown Art Association, N.Y., and pieces hang in homes across the country from California to Vermont.

You are always welcome to write in with an inquiry for custom work. I love working with you to design one-of-a-kind pieces for your space.

Cheers, Caitlin
